The Cube rewards patience more than luck. Before you spend Primordial Dust, decide what each slot is supposed to do and keep the right Tuning Prisms on hand. Players shopping for D4 items often focus on Greater Affixes first, but Prism choice matters just as much once an item reaches the workbench. Aggressive Prisms steer Offensive rolls, Protector's cover Defensive rolls, Pragmatic ones handle Utility and Mobility, and Adept's are for attributes and skill ranks. Willpower isn't an Offensive stat, even when your damage depends on it. That small detail can save a lot of wasted materials.
Pick the reroll that matches the problem
There are two jobs here, and mixing them up gets expensive. Chaotic Reroll is for moving a stat out of the wrong family. Say a damage ring carries a Defensive affix you do not want. Target that Defensive line with a Protector's Prism, then use Chaotic Reroll to push it toward another category. Once you land in the right family, stop using Chaotic. Focused Reroll is the cleaner choice when you need a different stat from the same group. It keeps an Offensive line Offensive, for example, while you look for Attack Speed or Critical Strike Damage.

Clean the base and lock down the prize
Magic and Rare pieces give you room to prepare. Use Remove Affix before adding anything new, especially when a base has a line that fights your intended setup. Legendary gear does not offer that freedom, so do the tidying while you still can. A clean base means fewer distractions when you add affixes one at a time. If you hit a strong Greater Affix, protect it through the Occultist. Select that line as though you were replacing it, view the offered choices, then choose No Change. The Cube should leave that affix alone during later rerolls. Just remember: you have committed that Occultist slot, so the Cube must handle the rest.

Protect a valuable Greater Affix before touching other lines.
Leave Transfiguration until everything else is settled
Transfigure Item belongs at the very end of the process. Finish sockets, tempering, masterworking, and ordinary affix work first, because Transfiguration can leave gear permanently Unmodifiable. The Kullean Tuning Prism is the exception worth planning around for Amulets: it adds a bonus Legendary Aspect while keeping the item open for more work, so you can keep refining that extra Aspect. Entropic Prism offers safer-looking results, but it removes the biggest upside and still locks the item.
